Q: Why do I need an Agent?

A: The process for preparing for the NFL draft and then making a successful transition into the league is a difficult and overwhelming process. An agent will relieve the stress associated with this process. An agent will be the person who will act on your behalf to secure your rights and interests. The agent will bridge the gap between you and the League by communicating the with NFL personnel to not only negotiate your contract, but to make sure the team is complying with the terms of your contract. The agent will also serve as your own personal resource to the business of sports and serve as guide to having a successful career.

Q: How long is the contract term between a player and an agent?

A: The standard player-agent representation agreement is in effect on the date it is signed and remains in effect until terminated by either party which then will be effective five (5) days after written notice is given to the other party.

Q: What is the maximum percentage an agent can earn from a clients’ contract?

A: An agent is bound by the terms of the NFLPA regulations which state that an agent can not take more than three (3%) percent of the client’s total contract value. The total contract value includes paragraph 5 salaries, signing bonus and any other bonuses or incentives that were negotiated into the contract.

Q: Does the NFLPA also control the maximum amount of money an agent can take for endorsement opportunities or special appearances arranged by the agent?

A: No. The NFLPA does not regulate what percentage an agent may take for endorsements or special appearances. However, the NFLPA does require that an agent disclose to the client the percentage he/she will take from those contracts. That information is captured on the standard player-agent agreement.

Q: Who bears the responsibility for any training expenses incurred on behalf of the client?

A: We will not charge a client for the cost of training and preparing for the NFL. This is an important question because there are agencies that will require that you reimburse them for your training and the expenses associated with that training.
