Abu Toppin

Abu H. Toppin - NFL Certified Contract Advisor

Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Abu has always been driven with a sense of purpose. A graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he received a B.A. degree in Political Science, Suffolk University Law School in Boston, MA, and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Abu has concentrated on developing his expertise in contract analysis, negotiations and sports and entertainment law, as well as his presentation skills.

In 1996, Abu was Co-founder of Agents International Group, Inc. (“AIG”). As a certified contract advisor for AIG, he worked on player contracts, being involved with all aspects including endorsement opportunities, community service activities and contract negotiations. He worked diligently to secure AIG's clients the best exposure needed to maximize their position prior to and after the draft.  Since then, Abu has worked with one of the largest and most experienced management companies in the sports representation industry. This company represented players such as Ray Lewis, Carson Palmer, Reggie Wayne, Ted Washington, Robert Thomas, Ahman Green, Drew Bledsoe and DeShaun Foster, to name a few.

Having worked with that large company, Abu noticed how players within a large client base who were either lower round selections or “non-marquee” players had their needs overlooked. This unfortunate circumstance is one of the many reasons Abu, along with partner Jack Huntington, decided to form RSM…to provide high quality representation to a smaller client base. (top of page)

Jack HuntingtonJack P. Huntington – NFL and CFL Certified Contract Advisor

Jack grew up in White Plains, New York until the age of sixteen when he moved to Westerly, Rhode Island. Jack attended the University of Connecticut where he received a B.A. degree, cum laude, in Political Science and Sociology. After graduating from UConn, Jack attended Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa where he was an Associate Editor of the Drake Law Review.
 
Following graduation from law school, Jack worked as an associate at one of the top law firms in the country and then in the legal departments of several Fortune 100 companies. Over the years at these firms, Jack negotiated numerous contracts relating to multi-billion dollar transactions.  While he enjoys working in the above capacities, his true passion lies in sports, particularly football. Jack’s passion for football and helping people fulfill their dreams by playing the game he truly loves is the reason he helped form RSM.
 
The skills Jack developed in negotiating big contracts have greatly benefited RSM in the interpretation of the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement, and in formation and negotiation of team- player agreements. His extensive work with senior management and the boards of directors of large organizations has helped him develop keen organizational, communication and public relations skills which have helped RSM clients gain exposure to maximize their potential. Finally, as a former football player and employee of these large organizations, Jack has gained the ability to work effectively within a team concept, which has enabled him to interact with scouts and general managers on a positive basis.
